Melanie’s Avalon (Avi)

Melanie’s Avalon (NPS #875) is a 14.1 hh Newfoundland Pony mare born in 2005. Her dam is My Lady Maureen (NPS #510), and her sire is Deerfield’s John Peter Payne (NPS # 577). Her full pedigree can be found on the NPS website.

Avi came to us in 2022. She was originally a companion for a senior horse. When her companion passed away, she was purchased by a Newfoundland Pony breeder and had her first foal. Avi is very sweet, loves attention, and is content to be at the bottom of the herd. She is a princess who loves to be groomed and fussed over. An excellent mother, Avi had a beautiful filly, Pippi, in June 2022. She is currently expecting her third foal due early May 2024.  While it takes time to gain Avi’s trust, once she does bestow it, she trusts you fully.

Avi’s original name was Avalon, named after the Avalon Peninsula, which makes up the southeast portion Newfoundland. Later, her next owner registered Avi’s first name as “Melanie” as there were already several ponies with the name Avalon.
