Equine Assisted Learning Youth Summer Camp 2024
A Morning at Poppy’s Haven with the Newfoundland Ponies
Our first day begins with an introduction to the Newfoundland Pony herd and an overview of their heritage. Your facilitators will proceed to walk your through a safety demonstration and over the week you will have an opportunity to engage in pony feeding and care.
You will get started building a connection with your pony by learning how horses communicate through body language, grooming, and working through a series of very fun team-based obstacles! Through these obstacles participants will learn life skills including the value of trust, teamwork, respect, boundaries, confidence, creativity, thinking outside the box, communication, and leadership.
The rest of the time is spent walking, cuddling and playing with the ponies, and horse-related games and crafts.
